Day 43: Ecclesiastes 8:4-9

Isn’t it great to be under the control of a sovereign God? All that we can see is the present and part of the past, but the future requires trust, patience, and contentment.

Ecclesiastes 8:6-8 says, “Because for every matter there is a time and judgment, though the misery of man increases greatly. For he does not know what will happen; so who can tell him when it will occur? No one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, and no one has power in the day of death. Thursday’s Journal Entry:

“Long day today, but probably my favorite so far (with the exception of solo day). We ate breakfast, had devos, packed up camp, and headed out at about 9:00am. We had to cover a lot of ground today so that tomorrow will be shorter. Our goal was to get into camp no later than 3:00pm so we’d have plenty of time at camp to relax. However, Chris took all watches from anyone who had them, and we set out with a destination, a goal, but no way to monitor our progress toward that goal. I liked it and was eager to see how we did. W.I.L.D. 2011: Wednesday- Solo Day

Wednesday’s Journal Entry:

“So I woke up after nine hours of sleep, ate my oatmeal, and was welcomed by the announcement of solo day. I dropped Cody and Charles off at two other locations, and now I’m at a different campsie. I walked and talked with God while collecting some birch bark to write on. I have found a cozy spot here on this large campsite to think and pray and read and write. Read Full Post

W.I.L.D. 2011: Saturday/Sunday- Framing the Experience

Upon arriving at the base camp on Saturday, we were put to work setting up tents for all the groups. After that we went to the Community Center in nearby Elmsdale where we registered, ate a lasagna supper, and quickly got started into our first framing session.

On Saturday and Sunday combined, we had five framing sessions. W.I.L.D. does more than just send people out into the wilderness. It equips people with tools they can use to interpret the experiences they face and maximize their learning potential. Framing is all about preparing for anticipated experiences so that we can learn as much as possible from them. Read Full Post

Day 42: Ecclesiastes 8:1-3

“Who is like a wise man?” I hope I would be…

“And who knows the interpretation of a thing?” I hope I would…

“A man’s wisdom makes his face shine, and the sternness of his face is changed.” I hope this would be true of me…
