Why do I sometimes engage in activities into which I don’t pour my energy? It’s a waste of my time. In fact, it’s a waste of God’s time.
Have you ever thought about the manner in which God accomplishes things? Whenever He does something, He does it to the best of His perfect ability. However, He’s not constrained by time, so time is a non-factor.
But nevertheless, when I do anything, I should do it to the best of my ability so I’m making the best use of the time and abilities God has given me.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”
When I’m dead, I have no time or ability to do anything! So I shouldn’t waste the opportunities I have now. Furthermore, I should always give my best regardless of the outcome.
Solomon noted that “The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all” (Ecclesiastes 10:11).
Depressing, eh? At first glance, yes. Why give my best when I’m not assured to always have a favorable outcome? I might be the fastest, strongest, wisest, riches, smartest person out there and still come in second place? What’s the point?
The point is that life is uncertain, but God is always certain and unchanging! God is sovereign! Therefore, there is always a favorable outcome!
For the unbeliever, nothing under the sun can ever be sure, no matter how hard one works. But Christians have this promise: “My beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
“For man also does not know his time” (Ecclesiastes 9:12). But as long as we do everything with all our might, we will find godly success.
Whatever you do, use all your might;
Whatever you do, make sure it is right.
Whatever may come, give it your all;
For giving half best will be your downfall.
So I’m 22 and I’m going to Faith Baptist Bridal College, and I’m still happily single. In fact, I’m exceedingly happily single. But for those of you out there who are searching for that virtuous woman, I have advice on how to get her after you find that girl whose value is far above rubies.
